Waterfront Manager
Derecktor Robinhood is a full-service yacht repair and storage facility, as well as a marina with 84 mooring and 120 slips. The Waterfront Manager is the public face and primary contact for our marina operations to assist our seasonal and transient customers. During the summer boating season, the Waterfront Manager’s main duty is to create a safe, fun, and pleasurable environment for our marina and mooring guests. During the months of marina operation (May 1 to October 31), the successful candidate will perform administrative and supervisory roles including hiring and training dock staff, scheduling, coordinating, and promoting daily and seasonal operations. During spring and fall, they will  assist in the launching and hauling of our winter storage fleet, as well as any administrative work relating to the marina including inquiries from potential new customers. Derecktor Robinhood is currently replacing the docks and systems during the winter and early spring, and the Waterfront Manager will be assisting in the building of the docks and replacing the old floats. This is a multi-year project that provides the Waterfront Manager with steady work in winter. Experience in any of the trades would be beneficial.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the marina, ensuring efficient use of resources and that all activities run smoothly.
  • Manage, train, and schedule marina staff.
  • Provide top-notch service to boaters and visitors, addressing inquiries, concerns, and ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for all.
  • Be on-site weekends and holidays during our busy season to provide a consistent point of contact for our customers.
  • Ensure the marina’s facilities, docks, and boats are well-maintained, addressing any necessary repairs promptly.
  • Enforce safety protocols, regulatory standards, and environmental regulations, including
    ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure boaters observe all marina rules and regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of necessary marina supplies, including fuel, retail items, and cleaning supplies.
  • Address any issues that arise on-site, including customer complaints, operational challenges, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Work closely with the Management Team regarding operations, end-of-day accounting, customer feedback, and maintenance needs.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma, GED, some college preferred but not required.
  • Prior marina, boatyard, or boating experience will be helpful, but we will train the right person.
  • Management or supervisory experience

Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Familiar with MS Windows and Office and the ability to learn POS/marina management software
  • Able to work independently and be a team player
  • Comfortable in a position managing a high school and college age staff
  • Familiarity with the boating industry, including common boating practices and equipment.

Technical & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work safely around water
  • Must be able to swim
  • Ability to lift 30lbs
  • Knowledge of basic power tools helpful
  • Knowledge of dock construction and repair helpful

Boatyard Yard Crew Member

Location: Southport, ME
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $22 – $27 hourly

Are you looking for a hands-on, physically active job in the marine industry? We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Boatyard Yard Crew Member to join our team! This role is essential in keeping our boatyard running smoothly, assisting with vessel handling, maintenance, and general yard operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Haul, launch, block, and move boats using boatyard equipment
  • Pressure wash and clean hulls for maintenance and repairs
  • Assist with bottom painting, sanding, and basic boat maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized boatyard and work area
  • Operate forklifts, travel lifts, and other heavy equipment (training provided if necessary)
  • Assist technicians and craftsmen as needed in various boat repair and maintenance tasks
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines for equipment use and boat handling

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a boatyard or marine environment (preferred, but not required)
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Comfortable with physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Basic knowledge of boat handling and marine maintenance (a plus)
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
