Description

Applicant’s desired background to include outboard engine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and repowers, as well as a familiarity with related vessel systems. OEM training opportunities are available. Familiarity with diesel engines also a plus. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, running gear, and navigational equipment
  • Install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components
  • Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
  • Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to: electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), gas and diesel engines
  • Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets
  • Must possess own tools
  • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. 
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. 

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Technical school training preferred
  • 5 years’ experience preferred
  • ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred
  • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
  • Must carry own tools
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred
  • Experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred

Do you have an eye and touch for high end finish work?  Do you want to work and collaborate with other marine professionals?  Do you want to work for a company that continually invests in its people, facilities, and equipment?   Safe Harbor Kittery Point is looking for an individual with at least 2 years of experience working with spray and brush paint applications.  Experience with laying up fiberglass is a plus as are any other general boat yard skills. The successful candidate will be professional and team-oriented, but also able to work independently. We have a fleet storage boats in an inside heated environment that require a wide range of cosmetic work throughout the winter months and a much larger fleet of boats that require similar service throughout the rest of the year.  Safe Harbors Marinas has two waterfront facilities in Kittery and Eliot, Maine that service, store and repair power and sailing vessels ranging from 18′ to +50′.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair diesel power systems in boats, including rebuilds and repowers
  • Basic decommissioning and commissioning of all engine and mechanical systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and replace running gear issues
  • General understanding of marine electrical and plumbing components and ability to test, repair, and replace systems
  • Ability to generate budgeted time and material estimates
  • Ability to use logic, good ears and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues
  • Must possess own tools
  • Ability to develop customer relationships and work with other team members

Safe Harbors Marinas has two waterfront facilities in Kittery and Eliot, Maine that service, repair and store power and sailing vessels ranging from 18′ to +50′. We are looking for an experienced equipment operator to join our team. The Equipment Operator is responsible for moving, hauling and launching all vessels on location. The successful candidate would be offered the opportunity to acquire additional skill sets within the boatyard and marina operations. Ability to operate power and sail vessels is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to:  forklifts, travelifts, and hydraulic trailers
  • Be able to operate machinery efficiently, effectively and demonstrate safe handling of vessels
  • Inspect, maintain and repair equipment to ensure operational
  • Perform related tasks such as pressure washing, bottom painting, block and stand vessels, and general facilities maintenance, as needed

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintaining various reports with service manager, service administrator and parts coordinator including but not limited to work in process (WIPS), and A/R reporting
  • Entering and maintaining service vendor bills with the parts coordinator and company bookkeeper. Communicate when issues arise with regards to work orders and the billing system.
  • Maintaining account details with preferred vendors
  • Maintaining account details of customers
  • Maintain employee list with preferred vendors
  • Creating and sending invoices in close consultation with service manager
  • Entering credit card receipts
  • Obtaining credit card authorizations for any new work requested and maintaining the file in accordance with current rules and regulations for safe handling of personal data
  • Participate in weekly service meetings
  • Data entry and other duties as needed and as they arise
  • Customer interaction as needed
  • Lead the monthly billing actives ensuring accurate and timely invoices
  • Maintain excellent files and notes in accounting software on customers, vendors and in work orders
