In October the Maine Marine Trades Association joined other outdoor recreation organizations and associations to explore ways to collaborate and strengthen Maine’s outdoor recreation sector.
The gathering was inspired by a key goal of Maine’s Outdoor Recreation Roadmap: To make Maine’s outdoor recreation industry a critical, thriving pillar of the state’s economy.
The organizations identified several shared priorities: the need for volunteers, workforce support, or both to advance their missions. The importance of access for outdoor recreation, another theme tied to the 10-year Roadmap, was a common concern. The group plans to meet again.
The meeting was organized by Maine Outdoor Brands. Maine Summer Camps recruited the meeting location with their members at Camp Runoia in Belgrade. The following organizations were represented:
