Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors presents an eclectic collection of stories written for people who enjoy boats, the outdoors, and living and playing along the coast. In each issue of the magazine and in the website content, you’ll find history, art, architecture, science, profiles of a colorful characters, and boats and marine matters—everything that makes Maine unique. Each year we gather Maine’s finest artists, architects, boatbuilders, craftsmen, designers, furniture makers, jewelers, and marine gear vendors together at our Show in Rockland, Maine, during the second weekend of August.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide customer service and general office support for the magazine and annual Boat & Home Show
General office support:
o Answer phones, check messages, greet office visitors
o Maintain office calendars and meeting schedule
o Provide customer service for subscription inquiries in coordination with fulfillment service
o Meter outgoing mail and packages and deliver to Post Office, maintain mail center
o Process online store orders, report deposits to bookkeeping, manage website store, renew website domain names upon expiration
o Maintain office supplies and equipment, reconcile petty cash
o Assist in maintaining and updating office platforms, software licenses and renewals
o Coordinate office supplies, office maintenance instructions and payments
o Maintain and manage office magazine inventory and storage
o Coordinate renewals and payments for office news/magazine subscriptions
o Manage in-house newsstand magazine program
o Update MBH&H Table of Contents reference document each issue
o Annually prepare office inventory for bookkeeping
o Manage industry payment compliance
o Process documents for regular upload to bookkeeping, file bills and other paperwork
Special Projects/Boat Show support:
o Create and update vendor database records
o Primary point of contact with show vendors: contracts, payments, insurance, guest ticket orders, and credentials
o Run reports for show staff as needed
o Order general supplies as needed
o On-site all throughout the show, and is a key contact and resource for vendors and staff. Manages the show office: preps materials/exhibitor kits, trains and supervises personnel, and helps with vendor check-in.
Helps with post-show site clean up and organizing storage units.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the oversight of our tender construction with a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget ensuring the work performed meets the customer’s expectations as well as Hodgdon Yachts standards. The Project Manager, within the constraints of the contract, will establish the production timeline and will coordinate necessary labor, materials, tools and equipment with the Production Manager. 

Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of experience (or a combination of education and experience) with a concentration in Operations Management preferable in yacht manufacturing or the construction environment. 

General work week 6:00am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday.

POSITION SUMMARY:
HODGDON YACHTS is searching for an entry level Designer at our Tenders Division in Damariscotta, ME who will assist with the design of custom Tenders for the super yacht industry.  Successful candidates will have working knowledge of mechanical design and drafting.  Familiarity with naval architecture, boatbuilding methods and composite constructions are a plus.  They will assist senior members of the engineering team with preparation of drawings and documentation for fabrication and construction, as well as liaise with the production manager and other members of the production team to bring designs to completion.  We offer the opportunity to work on world class boats, great work environment, excellent benefits including health insurance, paid time off, holidays, 401(K) with employer match, and four-day work weeks.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Work directly with all individuals in the Design and Engineering Department as well as all other departments to support efficient production
  • Communicate with and support production department design needs based on the overall production schedule
  • Navigate, manipulate, or create 3D models and the associated drawings
  • Learn the basics of composite construction to assist with the design of components and tooling
  • Prepare models for 3D printing
  • Review specifications of equipment and designs to aid with regulatory compliance and safety considerations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Familiarity with boat systems, boat construction, and naval architecture
    • Experience with 3D modeling, engineering drawing standards, and Microsoft Office

    • Solid Edge modeling a plus but not required

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Work schedule is generally 6:00am-4:30pm four days per week. From time to time, it may be necessary to work additional shifts or on weekends. Must be able to conform to the schedule, must follow safety rules and wear personal protective equipment as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot maintain, and repair multiple OEM brands of diesel engines on boats of all kinds

Safe Harbor Great Island Systems Technicians will be trained through a combination of mentoring, ABYC courses and OEM Product Training to develop their knowledge of: maintenance procedures; installation application requirements and troubleshooting using both computer interfaces and diagnostic equipment such as multi-meters, refrigeration gauge sets, and product specific tooling.

Systems Technicians execute annual decommissioning and recommissioning procedures on the vessels stored at Safe Harbor Great Island.  These procedures are iPad based and guide the technician through the process while capturing critical data for the customer.
