Are you a skilled craftsman with a passion for working on boats? We are looking for an experienced Marine Finish Carpenter / Boat Builder to join our team! This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision woodworking, detailed finishing, and high-quality craftsmanship in marine construction and restoration.

Responsibilities:

  • Construct, repair, and install interior and exterior marine woodwork
  • Fabricate and fit custom cabinetry, bulkheads, decking, and trim
  • Work with a variety of materials, including teak, mahogany, and composites
  • Perform fine finishing, sanding, varnishing, and painting
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for boat construction and restoration
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure quality craftsmanship and timely project completion
  • Flexibility to work on many different types of projects
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety standards

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in marine carpentry, boat building, or woodworking

Boatyard Yard Crew Member

Salary: $22 – $27 hourly

Are you looking for a hands-on, physically active job in the marine industry? We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Boatyard Yard Crew Member to join our team! This role is essential in keeping our boatyard running smoothly, assisting with vessel handling, maintenance, and general yard operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Haul, launch, block, and move boats using boatyard equipment
  • Pressure wash and clean hulls for maintenance and repairs
  • Assist with bottom painting, sanding, and basic boat maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized boatyard and work area
  • Operate forklifts, travel lifts, and other heavy equipment (training provided if necessary)
  • Assist technicians and craftsmen as needed in various boat repair and maintenance tasks
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines for equipment use and boat handling

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a boatyard or marine environment (preferred, but not required)

This position reports to the General Manager and is part of the Service Management team that is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the service department. Safe Harbor Great Island is looking for an experienced Diesel Technician to join our growing team. Great Island takes pride in the quality of our technicians by offering continuing training and education, fostering a collaborative environment and using a process driven method which provides consistent unparallel customer service.  Diesel Technicians inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair diesel engines and marine drive systems.  Safe Harbor Great Island is an authorized dealer and service center for Volo Penta, Volvo IPS, Cummins, Mercruiser Diesel, Yanmar and Westerbeke.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot maintain, and repair multiple OEM brands of diesel engines on boats of all kinds
  • Conduct all facets of engine repower projects
  • Basic knowledge of rigging to remove and install engines and transmissions
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to diagnose issues and identify action plans
  • Access on line parts manuals across OEM brands to identify and source parts
  • Overall knowledge of marine drive systems including vibration troubleshooting and alignment
  • Must possess own tools
  • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • Diesel Technical school training required
  • 5 years’ or greater experience required
