POSITION SUMMARY: Individuals perform a wide variety of boat building tasks related to wood/composite tenders, including,
but not limited to, fabricating/ fitting composite components, installation of deck hardware, hatches, and windows.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
▪ Perform a wide variety of boat building tasks related to wood/composite yachts
▪ Fabricating/ fitting composite components, installing deck hardware, hinges, latches, and handrails.
▪ Sets and operates a variety of woodworking machines, including power and hand tools
▪ Must be intensely aware of quality standards
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
▪ 3-4 years of experience, or equivalent training and experience
▪ Ability to work with power and hand tools, Drilling screwing, sanding, etc.
▪ Ability to work within close tolerances, +- 1-2mm
▪ Ability to work with large power tools such as band saws, planers, table saws
▪ Work with epoxy, resins and glues
▪ Must be able to follow directions and work well within large groups of people
▪ Must be able to meet the requirements of the schedule
▪ Ability to wear a respirator as required
▪ Must wear personal protection equipment
▪ Must have basic hand tools
▪ Works ‘hands on’ on multiple projects
EQUIPMENT USED:
▪ Band saws
▪ Drill press
▪ Table saws
▪ Misc. hand tools, drill, router reciprocating saw
WORKING CONDITIONS:
▪ Occasional extreme indoor temperature, adverse ventilation conditions (chemicals, dust)
▪ Rare extreme heights, extreme outdoor temperatures, adverse ventilation conditions (fumes), use of a respirator/face mask

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
▪ Flexibility to work in the standing, squatting, or kneeling position, as well as reaching overhead
with occasional twisting and bending while performing any of the above tasks
▪ Stair and ladder climbing is required
▪ Ability to work in small spaces as required
▪ Minimal lifting required above 75lbs.

POSITION SUMMARY FOR HODGDON YACHT SERVICES: The Dockmaster is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the marina, mooring field and waterfront of the Southport facility. These operations include, but are not limited to, assisting with the hiring of dock hands, training, and scheduling of marina/dock staff. The Dockmaster will also be responsible for all boats on location from the time of their launch to their haul out.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Training of dock staff in proper tie up of boats, pump out of holding tanks, customer service including assisting customers with loading and unloading their belongings to and from their vessels, fueling boats with specific attention to proper location and fuel type and use of point-of-sale systems.

• Development and implement of daily and weekly check lists to ensure a consistent routine for customers, dock staff and management.
• Manage the seasonal dockage and mooring agreements with customers prior to the beginning of each season.
• Manage dockage and mooring space for transients and service customers.
• Schedule and reconcile fuel deliveries and daily fuel purchases.
• Assist yard crew with launch and haul outs and set up of marina in the spring and fall.
• Assist mechanics with sea trials of boats.
OTHER RESPONSIBLIES:
• Utilize dock staff in keeping the marina facilities and lower yard neat and clean.
• Signing off on daily, weekly and monthly check list.
• Maintaining stock for items sold on fuel dock.
• Delivery of storage boats to customers docks and moorings as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the marine industry, preferably as a Dockmaster
▪ Good mechanical aptitude and boat handling skills.
▪ Must have strong attention to detail and a sensitivity to the needs of our customers.
▪ Dependable with a positive attitude and a strong, high quality work ethic.
▪ Demonstrates leadership skills and/or experience.
▪ Must be a self-starter, able to manage facilities and staff on their own and effectively
communicate directly with customers and service managers.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Bachelor’s degree or two years related training

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: The Dockmaster is expected to undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required to ensure a smooth-running marina/boatyard. A flexible working schedule is required as the Dockmaster may be required to work across a seven-day work week with a rotating schedule, including holidays and possibly evening hours. The Dockmaster should anticipate working weekends, during peak times and special events, and be on call in times of emergency or bad weather.

COMPOSITE TECHNICIAN 

Department: Composites Job Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Composites Supervisor Job Type: Regular Positions Supervised: None 

POSITION SUMMARY: All phases of composite boat construction 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES: 

Female/male mold assembly to include filling and fairing joint seams and applying mold release  wax 

Kit fabrication involving cutting fabric to desired sizes, direction 

Material lay-up and installation of peel ply, fabrics, flow media, vacuum and feeder lines Mixing of resin materials by weight/volume 

Infusion monitoring for temperature, vacuum infusion and time of infusion Modular installation of infused pieces for bulkheads, floor systems, decks and pilothouse Finishing, trimming and fitting of composite parts 

Some wet lay-up and wet preg is required for secondary bonding and tabbing Grinding and sanding for secondary bonding 

Works ‘hands on’ on multiple projects 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Prior experience working with composites 

Basic carpentry skills for staging and platform construction, templates and molds and cutting  and fitting pieces 

Must be able to wear a respirator  

Must be able to meet the requirements of the work schedule 

Must be able to use measuring tools

Hodgdon Yacht Services on Southport is looking a Marine Mechanic. This position includes but is not limited to repair and service on all types of marine engines, both gasoline and diesel, with a strong emphasis on gas powered outboard motors. Stern drive, outboard experience is also preferred.
Major Responsibilities/Activities: Duties include commissioning/decommissioning, troubleshooting and repair of water systems, engines, refrigeration systems, AC and DC heating/cooling systems, electrical systems and heads. Provide estimates for system upgrades and repairs typical to marine systems. Ability to research in catalogs, on-line, through dealer port holes and service/parts manuals and computer sources is preferred.

Minimum Requirements:
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Extensive experience with marine engines, electronics and boat systems.
• Experience in diesel engines and aspects of yachts systems onboard vessels up to 65’ is preferred.
• Must have strong attention to detail and maintain cleanliness on projects both during and upon completion.
• Must be able to work independently and have high quality work ethic.
• Must be a self-starter, able to manage projects on your own and have excellent customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate directly with customers and service managers.
• Some level of American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) certification and/or any manufacturer training preferred.

Lyman Morse in Camden is looking for an experienced outboard mechanic to join our team. Experience with all types of outboards, including outdrives and sterndrives is desirable. Knowledge of various brands, troubleshooting, repairs as well as new unit installations is also desirable. Electrical and mechanical system experience is also a plus. Anyone with experience with two stroke or four stroke engines is encouraged to apply. Training is available for the right candidate.

Lyman Morse at Wayfarer in Camden is looking for a full time Coatings Foreman. Experience with surface preparations and coatings, including fairing, sanding, painting and other finishing procedures on boats and small parts is essential. This person must have the ability to run a crew and assist project managers in overseeing service and building projects. Knowledge of time management, estimating skills, use of Microsoft office & Excel. The products can range from epoxy, polyurethanes, varnish and other marine finishing products. Applications are done by brush as well as spraying.  Experience required: 2-5 years marine painting experience, may substitute high end automotive prep and finish experience.
