John Williams Boat Company (JWBC) is seeking a marine mechanic to join our team.

JWBC is a full-service boatyard and boat building facility operating in Mount Desert, Maine.

Applicant’s desired background to include engine maintenance, troubleshooting, rebuilds and repowers, as well as a familiarity with related vessel systems. Good communication skills and strong work ethic are necessary prerequisites. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and comfortable working in, on, and around boats.

Position is full time year-round from 7:00-3:30 pm M-F. We offer health insurance, 401K retirement plan with company match, paid holidays and paid time off.

Yarmouth Boat Yard is hiring an experienced Marine Technician III to join our dynamic seasoned team.

We are looking for a Marine Technician with experience and a superior diagnostic skill set.  At Yarmouth Boat Yard we encourage schooling and value certifications as well as work experiences. 

Earn up to $38.00/hour based on experience/certifications.

Job duties include (but are not limited to): 

  • Advanced diagnostic skills mechanically and electrically
  • Evaluates performance and operation of watercraft during sea trials.
  • Repairs and installs equipment such as engines, electrical systems and components, heating, ventilation, water, and fire suppression systems.
  • Conducts tests on marine equipment to see if testing standards are met.
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • Reviews recommendations for repair work to watercraft with manager.
  • Can start as a billable technician day one
  • Can track and manager own time within the schedule
  • Maintain an 80%, or better, efficiency rating with retail labor and warranty labor
  • Advance skill set for all four of our seasons demands
  • Computer and literacy skills
  • Follow all safety protocol

Qualifications and experience

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Marine Technician
  • Master Certification, and/or multiple certifications across engine brands
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to troubleshoot technological / mechanical problems 
  • Eager to learn and keep up-to-date on technologies; pursues training and development opportunities
  • Has the ability to assess personal strengths and weaknesses; seeks feedback to improve performance
  • Shares expertise with others
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices

Yankee Marina & Boatyard, located in Yarmouth, ME, is hiring a year-round Marine Equipment Operator. The right candidate must have experience operating a variety of equipment including a travel lift, forklift, boom truck, personnel lift, boats, truck with trailer and a variety of power tools. Duties include, but are not limited to, safely launching power and sail boats, moving boats both within the yard and on the water, dock and yard maintenance and assisting where needed. Must be able to perform heavy lifting, climbing, and carrying during job process and always maintain awareness of and consistently practice safe work habits. The successful candidate must be willing to learn new tasks and work well with other experienced marine crew to provide a well-executed, quality service to our boating customers. We look for polite individuals with a great attitude and a strong work ethic who are looking to grow and be part of a great team.
