Full-time Composites Instructor 

This position if full-time, Monday – Friday, 8am -4:30pm

Position Overview 

The Landing School is seeking an innovative and skilled Composite Boat Building Instructor to lead the  next chapter of our renowned Composites Program. This is a rare opportunity to revamp and modernize  a hands-on program that prepares students to work confidently with composite materials across a wide  range of applications, particularly in boat building, restoration, and repair. 

Our 9-month immersive program and intentionally small class sizes allow for deep, project-based  learning and close mentorship between faculty and students. The ideal candidate brings both technical  mastery and creative energy to modernize curriculum, integrate emerging technologies, and connect  traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge industry standards. 

Key Responsibilities 

The Composites Instructor, reporting to the Director of Education, will: 

  • Revitalize and continuously enhance the Composites Boat Building curriculum to ensure  relevance with current and emerging composite manufacturing techniques. 
  • Deliver engaging instruction through lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on projects that  reflect real-world applications. 
  • Manage the annual student boat build, including: 

o Developing project schedules, milestones, and completion timelines. 

o Creating scantlings, laminate schedules, and bills of materials. 

o Sourcing and coordinating materials with the purchasing agent and vendors. Guide students through fabrication processes such as fiberglass, Kevlar, and carbon fiber layups,  infusion, and pre-preg techniques. 

  • Integrate project management, CAD/CAM, and CNC cutting concepts into coursework. Evaluate student learning through practical and theoretical assessments. 
  • Promote a culture of safety, craftsmanship, and professional integrity in the shop. Participate in faculty collaboration, staff meetings, student events, and professional  development opportunities, including representing The Landing School at boat shows and  industry events. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum Associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred). 
  • Minimum four years of professional experience working with modern composite materials  (fiberglass, Kevlar, carbon fiber, and resin systems including polyester, vinylester, and epoxy). Proven expertise in open and closed-molding methods, including wet layup, infusion, and pre preg. 
  • Experience in yacht construction and repair. 
  • Familiarity with CAD design, CAM programming, and CNC operations. 
  • Strong background in product design, laminate specification, and structural analysis.
  • Prior teaching or mentoring experience preferred; instructional training available for the right  candidate.

Description

Safe Harbor Kittery Point is looking for an experienced Sailboat Rigger to join our team. Riggers effectively and efficiently install, maintain, repair, and replace sailboat rigging and sail systems. Applicant must have an extensive working knowledge of sailboat rigging and hardware. Must be detail oriented. 3 years of experience preferred. We have two waterfront facilities in Kittery and Eliot, Maine that service, store and repair recreational power and sailing vessels ranging from 18′ to +50′.  Position is full-time, year-round, with benefits.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Unstep and step masts
  • Assemble and disassemble spars
  • Tune standing rigging
  • Connect and troubleshoot mast lights and wiring
  • Install booms, sails, running rigging
  • Prepare sailboats to safely sail
  • Splice lines, service winches and furling systems-both manual and electrical/hydraulic.
  • Service sailboat steering systems and deck hardware
  • Wax and clean spars
  • Inspect and estimate repairs

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. 
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. 

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Sailing/ rigging knowledge required
  • Hoisting/Crane Operator experience preferred
  • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder

Job Description
At Strouts Point Wharf Company the Marina Manager is our ambassador to the waterfront. They are the primary contact for our summer customers. Their main duty is to create a safe, fun, and pleasurable environment for our marina and mooring guests. The Marina Manager will provide excellent customer service and help us exceed our customers’ expectations. They will perform administrative and supervisory roles including hiring dock staff, scheduling, coordinating, and promoting daily and seasonal operations. This position could be seasonal but there is an opportunity for administrative or yard labor work to make this a year-round position. This is a flexible position and can be tailored to fit the right candidate.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the marina, ensuring efficient use of resources and that all
    activities run smoothly.
  • Manage, train, and schedule marina staff.
  • Provide top-notch service to boaters, and visitors, addressing inquiries, concerns, and ensuring
    a safe, enjoyable experience for all.
  • Be on-site weekends during our busy season to provide a consistent point of contact for our
    customers.
  • Ensure the marina’s facilities, docks, and boats are well-maintained, addressing any necessary
    repairs promptly.
  • Enforce safety protocols, regulatory standards, and environmental regulations, including
    ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Promote the marina through various channels, creating special events or offerings to attract new
    customers.
  • Maintain inventory of necessary marina supplies, including fuel, retail items and cleaning

Education and Experience
HS Diploma, some college preferred.
Prior marina or boatyard experience will be helpful but we will train the right person.
Management experience helpful.
Skills and Qualifications

Familiar with MS Windows and Office and the ability to learn POS/marina management software
Able to work independently and be a team player
Comfortable in a position managing a high school and college age staff
Familiarity with the boating industry, including common boating practices and equipment.

  • Supervise Warehouse Staff: Manage and lead a team of warehouse workers, including monitoring scheduling, training, and performance conversations.

Working Conditions:

  • Warehouse workers who work on loading platforms may be exposed to all kinds of weather, and those who work outdoors should wear protective clothing.
  • To reduce the risk of accidents, workers are required to follow strict safety regulations.
  • Warehouse workers generally work about forty hours a week. Overtime is often available at premium rates, and the work is usually steady all year.

Job Description:

We are seeking a meticulous and hardworking Yacht Detailing and Maintenance Specialist to join our team. The Yacht Detailing and Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of all vessels and the surrounding yard area and facility. This position involves detailed cleaning and polishing the exterior and interior of vessels, performing routine inspections and minor repairs, and assisting in the prepping of vessels for deliveries to the owners. The Yacht Detailing and Maintenance Specialist ensures yachts are in top condition for display, delivery, and that the facility is safe and efficient. This position can be physically demanding, and may require fitting into tight spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and detail the interior and exterior of vessels, including washing, waxing, vacuuming, and polishing surfaces
  • Removing dirt, grime, and stains from various surfaces, such as hulls, decks, cabins, and upholstery
  • Inspect vessels for any damages or areas that require special attention, reporting these findings to your supervisor, and repairing damages as directed
  • Use of specialized cleaning products and tools to achieve the best possible results
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, including basic maintenance, painting of buildings and grounds and minor janitorial tasks as requested
  • Ensure the facility is free of hazards and that equipment is properly stored and maintained
  • Assist with the delivery and preparation of vessels for customers
  • Communicate with customers and potential buyers regarding maintenance and detailing of the vessels
