Boat Detailer

Jeff’s Marine, Inc. – Part-Time Seasonal – Variable Hours/Week – Designated Weekends for Summer Season

Reports to the Service Manager & General Manager

Overview

Boat detailers are an essential component of Jeff’s Marine’s spring commissioning season. They assist in getting boats ready to be delivered. They specifically have an eye for detail and work well independently. They assist the yard crew in completing tasks to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities & Duties

Duties include: boat detailing & cleaning; buffing & waxing boats; organization of cleaning supply room; maintenance of yard, garage bays, storage buildings and equipment; and other tasks as assigned.

Desired skills include: ability to demonstrate professional behavior, showing respect for customers & coworkers; ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner; ability to work as a team player and assist others on short notice; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to work independently and identify areas of improvement; and ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Qualifications include: ability to lift 50+ lbs. and ability to stand for long periods of time.

Desired Skills & Certifications

Desired skills and certifications include: experience working in boatyardsboat operation experience and basic water safety knowledge; and a valid Maine driver’s license.

Job Posted:

The Safe Harbor Great Island Dockmaster serves as an ambassador for the marina and is typically the first/second person with whom a customer will interact.  The Dockmaster reports to the Marina Manager and is responsible for the safe mooring of vessels, general operation of the docks, assisting boaters, and maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the harbor and marina facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists marina manager with overseeing the management of berthing, mooring, and servicing of boats within the marina
  • Operates vessels, often under tow, to support boat yard service and haul/launch operations
  • Performs daily dock/marina inspection and maintenance to provide a clean and safe facility
  • Assists with managing, training, and supervising dock staff
  • Acts as first line of customer service for incoming boats
  • Responsible for daily operations of marina docks
  • Ensures docks and equipment are operational at all times
  • Ensures maintenance of clean restrooms, docks, walkways, grounds, and other areas designated by management
  • Ensures that boaters observe all marina rules and regulations
  • Assists with customer service and events
  • Availability to work overtime when required
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays when required
  • Other duties as assigned by marina manager
  • Successful full-time candidate will enjoy working outside 8 months a year in a dynamic and often fast-paced environment and will have a skill set that supports a secondary winter role, as part of our rigging/service/yard crews
  • Alternatively, a successful seasonal candidate will choose to serve strictly as part of the waterfront team, April – Nov/Dec.
