Maine Advanced Technology Center
The Maine Advanced Technology Center (MATC) is part of the Southern Maine Community College Brunswick Campus, in partnership with government, industry, and education. The MATC is the just the first step in creating a new approach that will align advances in technology and innovation with education. The MATC offers programming in Composite Technology with a focus on Cold-Mold Infusion and advanced applications for the composite industry. With dedicated labs, classroom space, and application shops for manufacturing and composites training, the MATC helps workers gain skills necessary for employment in industries that utilize advanced manufacturing and composite applications. By expanding the capacity to deliver training throughout coastal Maine, the MATC drives the advancement of the manufacturing industry, makes Maine an attractive place for companies looking to expand or relocate, and establishes Maine as the national leader in composites technology training.

Opportunity Maine
Opportunity Maine is a new program that will make college more affordable for Maine students. Beginning with any loans that a student takes in January 2008, he or she will be eligible to clain a large tax credit to pay student loans after they graduate. Businesses are also eligible for the tax credit if they agree to pay a student’s loan. To be eligible, graduates must work and pay taxes in Maine after they finish school - but there are no restrictions on leaving Maine for graduate school or programs such as the Peace Corps.

On Oct. 14, 2009 the Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection adopted a new general permit for the discharge of antifouling contaminated wash water. Information - including permit language and supporting documents and forms - is available at this site.
